On May 19, 2024, we found out that Alycia has breast cancer. She first felt a lump around Thanksgiving in 2023. When the lump didn’t go away, Alycia began the journey of figuring out what was going on in her body. She met with her primary care physician in January and the following months were spent waiting for tests and persevering through canceled appointments. A mammogram and ultrasound in April found something suspicious and a biopsy in May confirmed that Alycia has cancer.
Alycia has touched and impacted numerous lives, so we know that many people will want to know what’s going on, how they can help, and how they can pray. This website is a means to keep everyone updated on Alycia’s unexpected journey. When deciding how we wanted to talk about this season in Alycia’s life, we decided that we wanted to view it as an unexpected journey. Some people are more comfortable talking about their season with cancer as a fight or a battle, but we really wanted to view it as a journey. We didn’t know that this journey was coming and we don’t know how it’s going to end. We do know, though, that Jesus will be with us every step of the way, providing for everything that we need. It is definitely an unexpected journey, but we know that it ultimately will end at the center of God’s will.
So, thank you for joining us on this journey. It will be hard and there will be a lot of tears, but there will also be love and hope and goodness, directly from God and very much from the people in our lives. This is an unexpected journey, but one that we know we will not walk alone.
